Kung Fu Courses

One of Grandmaster Wong’s most influential Kung Fu Masters was Sifu Ho Fatt Nam. As well as being a Shaolin Grand master, Sifu Ho Fat Nam was also Master of Daosim, as such he knew a ‘Drunken Eight Immortals’ Kung Fu set from Daosit Kung Fu. Sifu Ho Fat Nam generously transmitted the essence of the Drunken Eight Immortals to Grandmaster Wong many years ago, and today we are very lucky to be able to present the “Drunken Eight Immortals” Kung Fu course at this years U.K. Summer Camp.

This year’s main event, the “Drunken Eight Immortals” Kung Fu course.
It is going to be a fantastic and intriguing course, which is unlikely to be repeated in the near future
    The dates are as follows:

  1. “Drunken Eight Immortals” Kung Fu course → July 18th to 21st (4 days-20 hours)

Sifu Wong demonstrates a combat application from the 'Eight Immortals'

Drunken Eight Immortals- July 18th -21st July

(please read dates and times carefully)

  • 18th-20th, 9am- 1pm
  • On the 21st, 9am- 1pm and 3pm- 7pm

This is an incredible opportunity for you to experience a rare form of Kung Fu passed on to Grandmaster Wong by our beloved Si Gung – Ho Fatt Nam – Sifu Wong’s last Kung Fu Master. This is not just a first for the UK Summer Camp, it’s a first for the International Shaolin Wahnam Institute.
During this 4 day course, Sifu Wong will cover the form, force, philosophy and application of the “Drunken Eight Immortals” Kung Fu set.
The term “Drunken Eight Immortals” has two important references in its name. ‘Drunken’ refers to the way the set is performed, the set is performed in a “drunken manner”, with movements that appear both odd and out of balance, though the practitioner of Drunken Kung Fu may not actually be drunk at all, the movements of this form are strange and unpredictable so as to confuse an opponent, making this a highly intriguing form of Kung Fu.
The “Eight Immortals” is in reference to the famous Eight Immortals of Taoist legend. Interestingly, there are specific Kung Fu patterns within the Eight Immortals Kung Fu set that correspond directly to each of the legendary Immortals. These specific patterns are meant to express the unique character of each Immortal.

A list of the Immortals can be found below.

The Eight Immortals

  • Immortal Woman He (He Xiangu),
  • Royal Uncle Cao (Cao Guojiu),
  • Iron-Crutch Li (Tieguai Li),
  • Lan Caihe,
  • Lü Dongbin (leader),
  • Philosopher Han Xiang (Han Xiang Zi),
  • Elder Zhang Guo (Zhang Guo Lao),
  • Han Zhongli (Zhongli Quan)

This set has not yet been taught by Sifu Wong and promises to be an incredible opportunity to practice a much talked about but rarely seen form of Kung Fu.

In this one day course participants will experience an enjoyable introduction to the partnered training method of Push Hands, the course will cover fundamental hand patterns used in push hands and also the body movement involved in successfully neutralizing incoming force, along with some very useful footwork.

If you are attending the Drunken Kung Fu course, I would like to suggest that you also attend the “10 Tigers sparring competition”. By entering this competition and using your traditional Kung Fu you will be helping to restore Kung Fu, as well as greatly aiding your own Kung Fu development.
